Patriots Equal Best Winning Streak From Brady Era with Triumph Against New York Jets
First-year player Henderson has tallied five touchdowns during the current campaign
The New England Patriots equaled their top unbeaten stretch from the Brady period as they beat AFC East opponents the New York Jets 27-14 in professional football
First-year standout TreVeyon Henderson led the way with three TDs as the New England squad notched an eighth straight win for the first time since iconic QB Brady's closing campaign with the franchise in 2019
Quarterback Drake Maye threw for 281 yards and a score, connecting on 25 of 34 passes
Victory increases the New England's advantage at the top of the division as they moved to nine wins and two defeats, with the New York bottom after falling to two victories and eight defeats
The Jets had gone in front at their home field with quarterback Fields rushing for a five-yard touchdown to cap the New York's opening drive
But the home team responded in the second period as the rookie ran in two short rushing scores before the running back caught a pass from Maye at the back of the end zone in the middle of the third quarter to extend the lead to 21-7
"That was a big time for him rising to the challenge, and it's been great for him to keep getting these reps," the quarterback said of Henderson. "He aims to be excellent."
Fields threw to Metchie in the latter part of the third quarter to close the gap for the Jets but Borregales kicked a two kicks in the final period as the home side wrapped up the win
