FC Barcelona to Host First Match at Partially Completed Camp Nou on Saturday
Barcelona have announced they will play at the still-under-construction Camp Nou over the weekend. The club will host Athletic Bilbao in La Liga 30 months after they moved out to allow renovations to start.
“We envisioned this comeback. The moment has arrived. Home again at Spotify Camp Nou.”
Not all seats will be available though over 45,000 attendees will be allowed to watch based on approved permits. When completed, the stadium’s capacity will reach over 104,000 attendees, increasing from the former 99,000. Barça announced finished work included a renovated tunnel for players plus modern locker rooms.
Stadium Testing
Barça organized an open training session inside the stadium in early November. Officials stated approval is being pursued from Uefa for their upcoming Champions League fixture versus the German side in December in the renovated venue. Previous fixtures took place at the Olympic Stadium.
